Short version. We only collect what we need to connect trainers and clients: your email, display name, and the workouts and feedback you create. Your data is stored securely in Firebase. The only third party that ever sees the contents of an imported workout is Anthropic, when you import a photo or file.
What we collect
When you sign up, we store your email address, display name, and account type (trainer or client) in our database. If you subscribe to a trainer tier, we also store your plan and its expiration. We do not collect your phone number, advertising identifiers, or location.
What leaves your device
1. Account & sync data
Your workouts, the clients you're connected with, the routines you've shared, and the feedback you've logged are stored in Firebase (Google Cloud) so trainers and clients can see them on multiple devices. This data is scoped to your account and only visible to the trainers and clients you're explicitly connected with.
2. Workout imports
When you tap Import and choose a photo, PDF, or text file, the contents of that file are sent over HTTPS to Anthropic's Claude API. Claude extracts the exercises, sets, reps, weights, and rest periods, and returns structured data that we save to your account. Anthropic does not retain the file beyond the request lifecycle, per their API terms.
3. Subscriptions
Trainer subscriptions are sold through Apple's StoreKit. The transaction is processed entirely by Apple. We receive a transaction receipt so we can grant you the right tier, but we never see your payment details.
What stays on your device
- A local cache of your recent workouts, clients, and feedback so the app works smoothly even with patchy connectivity.
- Your sign-in token, stored in the iOS Keychain.
Deleting the app removes the local cache. To delete the data stored on our side, see Your rights below.
Third parties
- Firebase (Google). Handles authentication, the database, and serverless functions. See Firebase's privacy policy.
- Anthropic. Receives the file you import so Claude can parse it. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
- Apple. Processes in-app subscriptions via StoreKit. See Apple's privacy policy.
Tracking
The app does not track you across other apps or websites. It does not use the AdSupport framework, does not read the IDFA, and is not integrated with any advertising network.
Children
Workout Connect is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we'll remove the account.
Your rights
You can export or delete the data we hold about you at any time. Email us from the address on your account and we'll process the request within 30 days. To stop using the app right away, delete it from your device — that revokes its access to your account on the next sync.
Changes
If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will change. Material changes that affect what data leaves your device will be called out in the app's release notes.
